One of the key concepts that have stuck in colleagues’ mind at GLOW is development of volunteering or ‘D of V’, which Liz Burns, President of IAVE, introduced in her address on the topic of trends in volunteerism, on Day 2 (Sunday). Her emphasis on integrating UNV’s V4D with IAVE’s D of V has been accepted very well by the participants.

Two more days to go and more than 30 colleagues, from both COTs and HQ, are getting ready to facilitate the workshop for us. Facilitators' training has been going on since Monday in Bonn, at the same Hotel Seminaris where we'll all arrive for the workshop. They have been under intense preparations to make sure all sessions during the GLOW are as productive/fruitfull as possible, facilitated by a group of committed people who have volunteered for that. They will be doing their utmost to ensure that GLOW principles, objectives and goals are met... but the rest half of the effort will have to be undertaken by all of us, the participants, to ensure the same.

Time to pack your bags, friends! Beginning this week, you’ll be busy packing your suitcases and bags for Bonn. Do make sure that you don’t forget any of the essentials, such as your passport, flight and train tickets, credit cards, euros, mobile phone, toiletries and other personal utilities.
We also want to remind you of certain items that you may want to bring with you. Here are some suggestions from the Communications & Social Team. more » |
