We also want to remind you of certain items that you may want to bring with you. Here are some suggestions from the Communications & Social Team:
Travel information: Make a copy of the information we sent you earlier (on “How to reach GLOW venue”) and keep with you. Specially make note of emergency contact numbers.
Sports shoes: If you’re planning to participate in the games sessions.
Swim suits: If you’re planning to go swimming.
Umbrella: Despite all our attempts, it’s likely to rain almost every day between 7 and 14 May. We’ll bring you the latest weather forecasts closer to the GLOW days.
Sunglasses: At the same time, when the sun is out, you will need sunglasses!
Warm clothes: Pack a light jacket or sweater, especially if you’re coming from a “hot” country! The temperature now at times varies between 2 and 12 degree C (37-55 degree F).
Medicines: If you use any medicine regularly don’t forget to pack enough amount of it to last you for the period. It may or may not be available locally in Bonn.
Power adapters: Bring a two-pin adapter plug to connect your personal appliances (laptop, mobile phone charger etc.) to electrical outlets. In Germany 220 volts, 50 cycles is used.
National dress: Your national dress for use on the National Dress Day.
Cassettes/CD of local/national music: For use at Share Fair, National Dress Party & the Talent Show.
Small musical instruments (harmonica, flute etc.): If you plan to play them in the Talent Show.
Camera (if available): There’ll be many occasions to take pictures!
Display material for Share Fair: But, remember, whatever you bring you have to carry back with you, unless you plan to give them away to colleagues or for the Share Fair Award. (Caution: Do not bring valuable items as they will be displayed in the open Share Fair space.)
Ear plugs: You may be sleeping in the same room with someone who snores heavily!
SPECIAL NOTE
1. Carry photocopies of valuable documents (passport, tickets, credit cards etc.) separately from the original. The copies will be useful in case of any loss of document.
2. Note that your usuaul contacts at the HQs will also be at GLOW during this period. If needed, your colleagues or family should contact you directly at the venue as HQ colleagues may not be reachable.
3. Do not bring valuable items for the Share Fair as they will be displayed in an open space.
4. Do not carry food items or materials that may be subject to customs regulations (such as souvenirs made of ivory etc.).
