GLOW News: Issue 407 April 2005
Is GLOWeb a useful tool to be informed about GLOW process?
Dear All,
Three weeks have passed since we set up GLOWeb site. We've created this website to provide all colleagues the opportunity to contribute to the preparations for GLOW with their ideas, skills and experiences.
This is the first time we're using an interactive platform in UNV for sharing information, ideas, knowledge and experiences among colleagues at HQs as well as in the field. So it’s important to know if it really is serving that purpose. And we want to hear it from you!
So tell us: Is this website useful for you to keep informed about the GLOW process?
Use the simple, two-click online poll on the right hand column of the website to vote "Yes" or "No". The vote is totally secret, so feel free to give your opinion!
Best wishes,
GLOW Communications Team Glow-comm@unvolunteers.org
THIS WEEK’S NEWS & INFORMATION
================================================= FLASH NEWS! FLASH NEWS! FLASH NEWS!
Senior Staff approve GLOW plans
All the plans for GLOW were presented to the Senior Staff at an SSM meeting on 06 April. The SSM not only gave us most valuable inputs, but also approved the plans, as presented. With the approval, the Stage Two of GLOW has begun with full steam.
We have posted some photographs from the SSM. To view the slide show go to: http://glow.civiblog.org/blog/Photographs/SeniorStaffMeeting ====================================================
LAST REMINDER: Have you filled in the personal information questionnaire? We sent personal information questionnaires to colleagues from the COTs participating in GLOW. The deadline for filling in the questionnaires has passed, but many colleagues have not returned it yet. If you have not yet filled it yet, please do so urgently. Filling this questionnaire is mandatory for all GLOW participants. Unless we have your personal information, the GLOW Logistics Team cannot make arrangements for your travel and hotel etc and you may not be able to come to GLOW.
Colleagues in the HQs and Liaison Offices will soon receive these questionnaires too. ====================================================
Highest ever response received to NA survey for GLOW! Every major event within UNV begins with a needs assessment (NA). That’s the right thing to do, isn’t it? Unless we know what needs to be done at the event, how do we prepare for it? But there has been this buzz in the recent months that there’s a “NA fatigue” among the colleagues, especially after a very low response to the NA survey for this year’s General Staff Retreat. So when GLOW was announced, NA kind of became a taboo word! But, surprise, surprise, there’s a Needs Assessment Team even for GLOW!
The GLOWeb Editor recently interviewed Robert Toe, Needs Assessment Team Coordinator, to find out what his team has done to overcome the “fatigue” and energize the colleagues to participate in the needs assessment exercise. And how it has made a difference.
To read the interview please go to: http://glow.civiblog.org/blog/_WebPages/InterviewToe.html ====================================================
What an overview! Ad has sent us this funny photo that says a lot. We hope it does not reflect on the usefulness of UNV's "communication cart"!!
Comments received to this photo:
“Aiming for the sky....”
“It's hard to see exactly, but they do look like UN Volunteers stickers on the side of those boxes?!”
“Heavy loads keeping us high ? Hope so ... high in spirit & momentum in our go, go, GLOW !!!”
Any comments? Share it on GLOWeb: http://glow.civiblog.org/blog/_archives/2005/4/4/552443.html
==================================================== Heard in the Castle: Q: What does GLOW mean, really? A: Get a Lot Out of a Week!
This seems to be very appropriate for this week when there's a lot happening at the HQs around GLOW...
