GLOW News: Issue 6

21 April 2005

Dear all,

List of COT colleagues invited to GLOW

We have posted the list of COT colleagues who have been invited to GLOW. The list will be updated as we receive the names and other details of some new colleagues who're currently in the process of joining UNV. The list is organized by geographic section, name and country.

See the list here: http://glow.civiblog.org/List_COT_participants_10Apr05_updated.pdf

This list does not include participants from the HQs and resource persons and guests being invited from outside UNV. We'll share with you their list as soon as it's available.

Colleagues from COTs, if you see your name on this list and yet have not filled in the bio-data (personal information) questionnaire or sent to the Logistics team your travel details, then please do so immediately. It is essential for making timely logistical arrangements for your travel and for authorizing purchase of your tickets.

Personal Information Questionnaires sent to HQ, Liaison Office colleagues

We have also sent the Personal Information Questionnaires by email to colleagues from the HQs and Liaison Offices who're participating in GLOW. They are requested to fill in the questionnaire by Wednesday, 27 April. The questionnaire, consisting of 21 questions, can be filled online in about five minutes.

Best wishes,

GLOW Communications Team

We  are Glowing Glowing

We  are Glowing Glowing

While the River Rhine is Flowing Flowing

And the cold wind is  Blowing Blowing

Yet  we at UNV,  are still Rowing Rowing

Our anxieties Growing Growing

But without any Slowing Slowing

Surely we will reach the shore Crowing Crowing

The sound of victory "We Did It", Showing Showing

The world that forward,  UNV will be,  Mo"V"ing  Mo"V"ing!!!

(Thanks to Sonam for composing this for us!)

Ad stresses the need for contributing to GLOW

A General Staff Meeting took place on Friday (15 April) in the HQs in Bonn. Colleagues were updated about the status of GLOW preparations, among other things. Ad chaired the meeting and explained that UNV is investing a huge amount of resources into GLOW because of the value it'll add to UNV's future as an organization. He stressed that all colleagues must contribute to its preparations in order to make it a meaningful and successful event for UNV.

We have posted a series of photographs from the meeting in a special photo gallery. See them here: http://glow.civiblog.org/blog/Photographs/GeneralStaffMeeting

GLOW is about UNV's culture & identity: Ad

“GLOW is not an event in isolation. It’s a process that has already begun and that continues beyond the event in May. It’s about the way we do business in UNV, following the principles of inclusion and participation. And we should be proud of it!” says Ad de Raad, our Executive Coordinator.

Exactly 30 days from the day when colleagues will be arriving in Bonn for GLOW,  the GLOWeb editor interviewed Ad to find out his thoughts about this event, why it is important and what he expects out of it. Ad also reflects on what’s it that makes UNV a unique organization and what values does GLOW add to it.
